This FIENS Visiting Professor session featured Jesús LaFuente presenting on the future of minimally invasive spine surgery. Drawing on 15 years of experience, he discussed the benefits of these techniques—including less pain, reduced blood loss, lower infection rates, and shorter hospital stays—as well as emerging technologies such as navigation, robotics, and percutaneous procedures. Dr. LaFuente also shared his efforts to expand minimally invasive spine surgery training in African countries and highlighted upcoming hands-on educational courses in Spain and Latin America.
