FIENS is proud to partner with the Kisumu Neuroscience Initiative in Kisumu to advance neurosurgical education, training, and access to care in the region. Through support of the annual Kisumu Neurosurgery Symposium and associated neurocamps, this collaboration brings together local and international expertise to strengthen clinical capacity and foster sustainable workforce development. Since the program’s inception, local neurosurgical capacity has grown from no in-region neurosurgeons to a developing team of locally based specialists—an important step toward long-term, self-sustaining care.

FIENS contributes through educational engagement, global faculty participation, and the coordination of volunteer neurosurgeons and specialists to support ongoing training efforts. Together, FIENS and the Kisumu Neuroscience Initiative are building a model for collaborative, locally driven neurosurgical advancement that can be replicated in similar settings worldwide.
